smaller

Light swirling with grief
look at the sea expanding
how ravishing and vast it’s getting
how gleamingly insurmountably impossible
to cross

there you are and a little less there
smaller and smaller still on the other shore
light swirling with dread
where my school my home my grandma’s garden used to be
and there my swing my newsstand my
very best shop look at the waves rolling

everything away true
light leaves no
traces
